Terms of Use
The rules for using StudyLock
Last updated 28 October 2026. Plain language, because these apply to families.
Accepting these terms
By creating an account or using StudyLock, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of any child profile you create.
What StudyLock does
StudyLock is a study gate. A parent sets a rule for each child — which subjects, how many questions an unlock takes, and how long the screen stays open afterwards. The child answers grade-level questions, the session is recorded, and the study window opens. The app also offers practice rounds, a daily mixed-subject challenge, badges and streaks, printable worksheets, and learning goals.
StudyLock runs inside the app itself. It is a teaching tool, not an operating-system parental control, and it does not monitor another app, read messages, or track a child’s location. For device-wide limits, keep using the controls built into your phone or tablet.
Accounts and parental responsibility
- Keep your login details private; you are responsible for activity on your account.
- You are responsible for the child profiles you create, for the rules you set, and for supervising your child’s use of the app.
- Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep your email address current.
- Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed your account.
Trials, plans and payments
New accounts include a 7-day free trial. After it ends, continued use requires a paid plan: a monthly subscription or a one-time purchase, at the prices shown on the Pricing page. Payments are handled by our payment provider; card details never reach StudyLock.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your payment account; access continues until the end of the period you have paid for. Refunds are handled under the payment provider’s policies and applicable law.
Acceptable use
Please do not:
- Copy, resell or redistribute the app, the question sets or the worksheets commercially.
- Attempt to break into accounts, probe or overload our systems, or bypass the study gate by technical means.
- Use the app to harass anyone, or upload unlawful, harmful or offensive content.
- Create accounts on behalf of children who are not in your care, or misrepresent who you are.
- Use automated tools to scrape questions or generate answers.
We may suspend an account that breaks these rules, and will usually tell you why.
Learning outcomes
Questions are written and checked for the grade level they are labelled with, but StudyLock is a practice and motivation tool. We do not promise any particular academic result, test score or improvement, and the app is not a substitute for school teaching, tutoring, or professional educational or medical advice. A parent remains the best judge of what suits their child.
Availability and changes
We work to keep StudyLock running smoothly, but we may change, pause or retire features, and we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. If we make a material change to these terms, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, let account holders know by email. Continuing to use the app means you accept the updated terms.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, StudyLock is provided “as is”. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for lost data, or for losses arising from a child’s use of a device outside the app, including reliance on the study gate in place of built-in device controls. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for StudyLock in the twelve months before the claim.
Ending your account
You can close your account at any time through the Contact page; we will delete your account and your children’s study data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, is used fraudulently, or is required to be closed by law. Sections on payments already due, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law survive the end of your account.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled by the state or federal courts located in Texas, unless the law where you live gives you other rights that cannot be waived.
