About StudyLock

Screen time that has to be earned

StudyLock is a study gate for family devices. Instead of arguing over how long a child has been on a phone or tablet, the device stays locked until the child answers a short set of grade-level questions — math, reading, spelling, grammar, science, history, geography or Spanish. Answer correctly and the device unlocks for the window the parent chose, then the gate closes and the next round begins.

Parents set up a profile for each child, pick the grade and the subjects, and decide how many questions are needed per unlock and how long the unlock lasts. Every attempt is recorded, so you can see first-try accuracy over time rather than guessing how practice is going. There is also a daily mixed-subject challenge, printable worksheets with answer keys for offline practice, and learning goals with a weekly target for the skills a family wants to focus on.

StudyLock is built for families with school-age children — households where a parent wants a simple, gentle rule instead of a constant negotiation, and where the child can see exactly what earned them their time. It is not a surveillance tool: the questions are the gate, and the progress reports are for the parent's own encouragement.

The app is designed and maintained by the independent team behind StudyLock, a small group focused on practical screen-time tools for families. Questions are written and checked for the grade level they are labeled with, and the curriculum set keeps growing based on what parents ask for.
